Webbys @>+-+--

Today a few people wrote and wished me luck on my upcoming job interview. I never got around to preparing questions and answers, but I did put my resume into Word. Ewww.
On the way to the Webbys Brant helped me prep. He has done a lot of interviewing, and asked me questions that I completely couldn't answer, and then helped me answer them. I felt dumb but grateful!

Walking toward the Webbys, Brant pointed out that the city center seems very European. He's right. I never thought of it before because I am from San Francisco. I think of parts of Europe, Genova, for example, as San Franciscan, not the other way.
It was great to go to the Opera House! It was so fancy! Everyone was so dressed up and enthusiastic! It's just like I imagined it would be when I thought it would be icky and showbizzy, but actually the dressiness and awe and optimism are all wonderful things, not icky at all. We were very high up in the air, in the penultimate row of the highest balcony. The people on the stage were very tiny. But simultaneous images of the speakers were blown up large on a screen in the center of the stage, so we actually had a great view.
The show was great. There was a short film for each category, and they were all fabulous. Each winner made a five-word speech. Blogger didn't win, and I'll tell you, Ev wuz robbed, but Craigslist won and you have never heard such a noise! It brought down the house!
Afterward there were yummy foods on every floor. I wouldn't call this a yummy food, but there were also Krispy Kreme donuts, and Brant found a Krispy Kreme hat to complement his outfit. Brant was a great choice of an escort; outgoing, knowledgeable and funny. Like me, he has a weird diet: for him to eat it, a foodstuff must either be vegan, or it must be a dessert.
The time is long past when I would expect to know most people at a web thing, but Kevin-John was there. He colored all his beautiful red hair dark for the occasion. Go figure.
A tall German Fusspitality man dusted us with a feather duster.
Before we left, Alexandra found me and told me she was sorry I didn't get to work at the Webbys, and that my audition got very high marks from everyone there. That was so nice of her in the midst of all the chaos.
