Marty & AvatarSelora bravely had twenty-one people for Christmas; her two same-parent sisters, their husbands, baby and dog; my brother, wife and baby; her mother, Audrey, and her boyfriend; Selora, Steven, and their three kids; me; my parents and my dad's brother, Uncle Dick; Audrey's one-time best friend Chantal and her husband. Of course, it went perfectly. Audrey gave her two grandbabies trikes. When trikes first get put together, these days, they have a big pole for the parent to push the kid around the house until the kid gets the picture, so Steven was pushing Cezanne around. That was festive.

Dick never got into wrapping presents. He came with a big bag of boxes of candy and numismatic coins and handed them out as the spirit moved him. He gave me a privately minted coin that was like a buffalo nickel but silver, big, and in a protective lucite enclosure. I'm carrying it in my pocket.

Monet was such a wonderful little gift elf. It seemed like I kept getting more and more and more presents, and hearing the good news from Monet made each surprise even better. This was particularly gratifying because I gave all my presents at Hanukkah, so each present I got at Christmas was unexpected.

Cezanne got a baby doll that wets, which she evidently wanted. She said, "My baby is like Sunah's baby." Hm.

Selora's sister Kira's husband, Reece, a likeable, small, and New Yorkey fellow, gave me the biggest surprise of the day when I learned that he used to be Attorney General of Micronesia.

On the other hand, it was no surprise at all that Magic Steven had the house completely clean before the last guest was out the door.
